Description
Up for sale is this wonderful WWII bring back grouping. I don’t have much information on this soldier but this flag, box, 32nd Division patch, and casing were sent home to the soldiers sister. Flag is in good condition. Has some folds/ light aging. Box also has one light aging and also has a crack along the top. Features some excellent Japanese hand carving. Flag has soldiers hand writing in pen which says“To Sis From Tom In City Of Kokura Japan, Jan 21 - 46”
Kokura was the primary target for the "Fat Man" bomb on August 9, 1945, but on the morning of the raid, the city was obscured by morning fog, the city was mistaken for the neighboring city of Yahata the day before by the reconnaissance missions.
Box measures 6” wide. Flag measures 10.5” by 12”. Patch measures 3” wide and casing measures 2.5” long.
This is an excellent piece of WWII history and a super unique grouping. This will look great in any collection! Let us know if you have any more questions.
