    Description

Twin Flame Services, LLC presents this World War 2 era glass eye, measuring approx. 5/8 inches wide, 7/16 inches high, with a bright blue color iris.
My Great Uncle, Alfred Mystek, Served with the 8th Armored Division (the 'Thundering Herd'), in Armored Medical Unit 78-B that toured Europe in 1945. This division, specifically the 83rd Infantry, is credited with liberating the Langenstein-Zwieberge concentration camp in April 1945. You can read first-hand history of the Thundering Herd by looking up 8th-armored*dot*org.
Of the many photos & trinkets with which my Great Uncle returned home after WWII, the glass eyes were the most, well...strange. As with many veterans, he didn't talk much about the war. I sadly did not know about this collection of items until I found his foot locker in the basement of his home after he passed. I can only assume that since my uncle served in the medic unit, he took a few of these as mementos.
