    I think this was either US Air Force or British Royal Air Force, but not sure.

    I found this info on internet. I believe it pertains to this item: ”When the sea marker is dropped from a plane, the cardboard sheath separates from the marker, and the latter ruptures on impact with the sea, leaving a patch of aluminum powder floating on the surface.”
