Rare Norwegian WW2 M/31 Army/Industrial Defence Steel Helmet
Original pre-war army helmet with five rivets. Still retains the pre-war leather liner. Unfortenately missing the chin-strap.
Size II (Medium)
The helmet has some rust damages, which is to expect due to the fact that it comes from an abandoned Industrial Defence complex and have been exposed to damp conditions for many years.
The Norwegian Model 1931 steel helmet, often referred to as the Baltik helmet. This model was based on the Swedish Model 1926-helmet, which had been tested in the late 1920´s together with Dutch and Czechoslovakian helmets. The most notable differences is that the Norwegian model only has five rivets compared to six on the Model 1926, and a small comb on the top, which the Swedish helmet lacks. Its painted in a dark green paint mixed with sand. The helmet came in three sizes, with one being the largest and three being the smallest. The size was stamped in the neck of the liner band. This helmet would slowly throughout the 1930´s become the main helmet of the Norwegian Army, with at least 9000 helmets being produced by the Raufoss Ammunitions Factory before the war. The helmet would continue to see production during the second world war, but with only three rivets and liner of much lower quality. These helmets were sold to the Civilian Auxiliary Forces and the Norwegian Nazi regime. After the war, most of these helmets ended up at the disposal of the Civilian or Industrial Defense, like this one her for sale. They would be painted yellow and a decal on the front. There also exist a more recent version of it specifically made for the Civilian Defense. This one has the same yellow paint scheme, but has a bit different shape, liner and only two rivets.
