Description
Czech Vz. 32 Steel Helmet--1936Original immediate pre-WW2 Czech Vz. 32 steel helmet, steel shell featuring plain rim, five light tan leather liner pads, and brown leather chin strap with "chin cup" split in center and steel adjuster buckle on one side. Ink stamped at inside rear with Czech rampant lion property mark, date 36, and manufacturer's code Sch-M. Also has a small oval ink stamped acceptance/proof mark inside crown as well. Has a total of seven rivets holding liner pads and chin straps in place. Still retains approx. 70% original brownish-OD green [similar to WW2 Japanese helmets] painted finish inside and out.
Liner pads are soiled and somewhat discolored from use but are undamaged. Leather adjuster cord on liner tongues is broken, but no damage to tongues or eyelets. Chin strap is dry and dusty from age. Adjuster buckle has surface rust and the tab it is mounted on is very fragile, but still intact and undamaged. No dents, cracks or other damage to steel shell.
Originally adopted for Czech Army use in the early 1930s [obviously], this type of helmet saw quite a bit of wartime action with units ranging from the Slovak Army ["foreign auxiliaries" under German command] on the Russian Front, to German civil defense [Luftschutz]. Will clean much better if desired. Nice example of one of the somewhat forgotten helmets of the pre-WW2 and WW2 era and is in very good condition. Any questions please feel free to ask.
