The number “57” is a number that refers to the size sieve that was used to screen and sort the stone. It means that the stone was put through the #57 sieve which produces gravel stones of about 1” to 1.5” in size.
1 Tons will, normally, cover an average space of 15ft X 12ft  (180 sqft) at 2 inches thick
"How To Measure How Much You Need"
1. Measure Your Area Length and Width (Example: (L)25ft X (W)20ft)
2. Multiple The 2 Measurements (Example 25x20=500
3. Divide 500sqft by 180sqft (Because 1 Ton Covers 180 sqft) 500/180=2.77 Tons.
So in this example, you would need 3 tons
